Two related words, but not the same meaning. NORSE carries the historical and cultural story; Nordic describes the modern region.

NORSE

Norse refers to the people, language and culture associated with Old Norse Scandinavia. That cultural world includes the mythology commonly associated with Oden, Tor, Freja and other figures of the pre-Christian northern tradition.

The Viking Age is an important part of that heritage — an era of seafarers, explorers, traders, craftsmen and warriors who travelled far beyond Scandinavia. Its traditions of courage, craftsmanship, navigation and enterprise are part of the cultural inspiration behind the NORSE name.

Nordic is the modern geographic and regional term for the Nordic countries and societies.

It describes a contemporary region and identity rather than the historical culture from which the NORSE name takes its inspiration.

The cultural reference does not imply a religious affiliation.
